Jason - I just lifted this text from a woman in Michigan & a guy in Colorado. Please see what you think??? Can you work with this?
A bagpiper at any wedding venue can be as prominent or as discreet as you like. Any or all of your ceremony and reception can be filled with Scottish or Irish music, heritage and pride. Whether your wedding ceremony is inside a majestic church, or outdoors at a scenic park; the bagpipes are the perfect instrument to help make your wedding day an incredible memory!
Let me know what your ideas are. I am more than happy to work with you to make your wedding day the way you've always dreamed it would be!
I offer a variety of hymns and popular songs including the frequently requested romantic love theme, "Love of a Princess" from the epic movie Braveheart. And for the more traditional bride, "Here Comes the Bride" is always an option.
Grace your wedding with the engaging music of the bagpipe. Whether the piper is playing a prelude off in the distance prior to the ceremony, leading the bridal party down the aisle with a slow processional, escorting the bride and groom out during the recessional with a festive fanfare, or providing background music to compliment your reception, the entire wedding party will be charmed by the splendid sound of the pipes.
Here are some possibilities of what I often do for a ceremony. We would need to custom tailor this to suit your ceremony.
I typically show up well before the ceremony to coordinate with the officiant. If you wish, I could play a prelude before the ceremony as your guests are arriving. This is a great way to set the mood for the ceremony and to get your guests moving in the right direction to the sound of the pipes. We would need music for the processionals (as the mothers, groom and officiant, bridesmaids and groomsmen, flower girls and ring bearer, and bride and father come down the aisle), the unity candle ceremony (if you are going to perform one), and the recessional (as you exit). The tradition is to have the piper lead the bride and groom out with the recessional music. Also, I could play a postlude (after the ceremony) if you wish. There are many options and I would need to fine-tune them to suit your unique ceremony and your taste. I am certainly open to any of your ideas and suggestions.
Feel free to visit my music to begin to get some ideas for tunes you might like for the ceremony. I have attached a tune list there for you to have a look at a more expansive list of my repertoire.
I play the Highland and Small Pipes so I can accommodate an appropriate volume of sound for any size space indoor or outdoor.
The possibilities include:
Before the ceremony:Starting the ceremony:
There are three different types of bagpipes available to choose from for your wedding ceremony or reception. I will help you pick the one that works best for your venue.
Which tunes should you choose?
Processional and Recessional tunes make a big impression- choose a tune from the list on my "Tunes" page, or let me choose one for you. Here are a few of the most popular tunes:
Scotland the Brave, Here Comes the Bride, Mairi's Wedding, Murdo's Wedding, When Irish Eyes are Smiling, Mull of Kintyre, Green Hills, Love of a Princess (love theme from Braveheart), Minstrel Boy and Highland Cathedral.
How many pipers?
Are you looking for a few pipers, or a full Bagpipe band? I can arrange for as many pipers as you need as well as snare, tenor and bass drummers.
I look forward to making the music planning fun and easy (you do have many other details to worry about). Through the process I can help you find the music that reflects you two as a couple and further accentuates the mood and emotion of the ceremony. This way the music you choose will be unique to you two and special.
